My husband and I took my 9 year old daughter to see the movie Frozen last week.  I loved all the messages of authenticity and personal power in this story. If you haven’t seen it, it’s about 2 sisters, princesses, and the elder has special power to make snow and ice. But her parents are afraid of her power and taught her to suppress it and hide her true self so she doesn’t hurt anyone.

Wow!

This is just what I felt like all my life. To hide and suppress what is natural for me, and where I feel my most alive and powerful.

When she finally left the palace and went out into nature, she expressed her true powerful self, experienced  freedom, creativity and exhilaration and in the end found the tools to balance her power and use if for the good of her kingdom. This is such a wonderful story.

Often,  the very things we feel we have to hide and suppress about ourselves, are our best features and the gifts the world is waiting for.  Can you think of aspects of yourself that you’ve been afraid of expressing? When we live from a place of fear, we are only half alive and can feel the smallness and sadness of betraying what is bursting to be expressed within us. We sanitize ourselves to protect others from our true, magnificent, vital nature.

Today, I invite you to take a baby step in the direction of allowing your true nature to be seen. Trust yourself, deep inside you know what you’d love to express and let out. These parts are your gifts and the best things about you. Make a choice to thaw the frozen aspects of yourself and share them with the world today. Choose just a small opening where you can feel that freedom and begin to trust that the world will embrace the authentic you.

The way in which you embrace yourself, you will be embraced.

What are some ways you’ve felt ‘Frozen’ in your life?  I’d love to hear from you.
